An Introduction to Hellenistic Astrology
Hellenistic astrology is a tradition that was practiced in the Mediterranean region during the time of the Roman Empire, and many of the techniques of western astrology originated during this period. Despite the foundational role that this tradition played in the history of western astrology, not all of the techniques that were used by astrologers in antiquity survived into modern times. Recent efforts to translate dozens of ancient Greek and Latin astrological texts have resulted in the recovery of dozens of important techniques and concepts, which have the potential to enhance and improve the practice of astrology today. This talk will provide an introduction to Hellenistic astrology, and demonstrate that by looking into the past, we can create a better astrology for the future.

Ancient Timing Techniques: Annual Profections
Ancient astrologers used a collection of timing techniques known as time-lord systems in order to determine when certain planets would be activated in a birth chart. Part of the premise is that not all planets are activated at all times in a person’s chart, but instead the natal potential of a planet lies dormant until it is awakened as a time-lord, at which point the full potential becomes unleashed. One of the most widespread time-lord techniques in Hellenistic astrology is known as annual profections. In this workshop we will talk about both the basic application of this timing technique, as well as a more advanced method that can be used to determine how specific topics will play out in each year of the native’s life.
Sunday – June 3rd; 10 am – 5 pm
Timing Peaks and Transitions in Your Career and Life Direction
One of the most impressive techniques that has been recovered from ancient astrology so far is a time-lord technique known as zodiacal releasing. In this workshop you will learn how to use the technique to time peak periods and transitions in a person’s career and life direction. This technique was only recently rediscovered through a translation of a second century text, and it is quickly becoming recognized as one of the most powerful and effective predictive techniques available today. Attendees will receive a detailed handout that will divide their entire life into chapters and subsections, and they will learn how to use the technique to determine high and low points in their career, as well as periods when changes in life direction are more likely.
In order to receive a handout attendees need to have an accurate birth time, and they need to submit it to Chris by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, preferably well in advance of the workshop.
